The Wholemeal Tin

WHOLEMEAL TIN LOAF

Ingredients

1Kg wholemeal flour

3 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoon yeast

230ml warm water

6 tablespoons light olive oil

4 tablespoons honey

 

Method

Mix flours, salt & yeast together.

Add water, oil & honey.

Mix to a dough.

When all the flour is included in the dough turn it out on to a floured surface.

Knead for 10-15 minutes until soft, smooth and springy.

Put back in an oiled bowl and cover with a shower cap or tea towel. Leave to rise for an hour.

Knock back the dough to remove air from it.

Halve the dough.

Make into two long rolls and tuck the ends under each.

Lightly oil two tins and put the dough in ‘tuck side’ down.

Cover with a shower cap or tea towel and leave to rise for an hour or so out of a draft/in a warm place.

Once the dough has risen to top of the tins bake in a preheated oven at 200 centigrade or gas 7 for 30 minutes

You might give you bread to a neighbour, friend or someone at work, school or college or perhaps to someone you do not know who you think might welcome a loaf of handmade bread.
